Nick and Alex
Born and raised in the rolling wilds of Wisconsin, Nick was a true Midwest farm boy most at home with dirt under his nails and the forest at his heels. Childhood days were spent rambling the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, foraging wild blackberries, spotting morels, and cobbling together curious inventions from scraps of wood. A deep love for the natural world grew in him early and never let go. That love led him organically to a degree in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated in 2008. Over the years, Nick has cultivated not just gardens, but a wealth of hands-on experience in both the green industry and small business. Today, he serves as Bluebird’s head horticulturist, lead designer, and project manager. He’s the mastermind behind our landscape designs and installations. With every native planting, pollinator pathway, and wild patch restored, Nick is on a mission to share the good news of eco-friendly landscaping.
Originally from Gainesville, Florida, Alex moved to Jacksonville in 2007 to attend Jacksonville University, where she earned a degree in marketing with a minor in fine art photography. She spent nearly two decades as a professional photographer, documenting hundreds of weddings and families across the country and abroad. As Bluebird evolved into an ecological landscaping business, Alex brought her background in photography and marketing to BG. Today, she manages Bluebird's creative direction, website, social media, and client communications. Her appreciation for art and storytelling helps shape the way Bluebird connects with its community. Having created gardens in everything from tiny rental apartments to suburban backyards, Alex believes beautiful, ecologically thoughtful landscapes should be accessible to everyone.
