Nick + Alex
Born and raised in the rolling wilds of Wisconsin, Nick was a true Midwest farm boy—most at home with dirt under his nails and the forest at his heels. Childhood days were spent rambling the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, foraging wild blackberries, spotting morels, and cobbling together curious inventions from scraps of wood. A deep love for the natural world grew in him early and never let go.
That love led him organically to a degree in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated in 2008. Over the years, Nick has cultivated not just gardens, but a wealth of hands-on experience in both the green industry and small business.
Today, he serves as Bluebird’s head horticulturist, lead designer, and project manager. He’s the mastermind and heart behind our landscape installations. With every native planting, pollinator pathway, and wild patch restored, Nick is on a mission to share the good news of eco-friendly landscaping.
A Gainesville, Florida native who made her way to Jacksonville University in 2007, Alex fell in love with the Bold South and never looked back. With a degree in communications and a focus in marketing—plus a minor in fine art photography—she spent over a decade capturing life through her lens, photographing hundreds of weddings, families, and milestones around the world.
In recent years, she’s traded in her passport to documenting life and gardens on film, close to home. Now, she turns her camera toward Bluebird’s gardens and native landscapes, capturing the quiet beauty of growth, texture, and time in each frame.
At the heart of everything Alex does is hospitality. She’s the welcoming voice behind Bluebird—our photographer, marketing mind, social media storyteller, website wizard, and client care expert. From first email to final planting (and every joyful moment in between), Alex ensures each client feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
